EnPerSo Travel Combats Modern Slavery

EnPerSo Co-Founders, Dan Heathwood and Jess Richards have been working alongside Madison Marcus’s Eric Boone and the team to drive real-world action to combat and mitigate modern slavery in the travel industry and their supply chain.

Today, fifty million people live in and are subject to oppressive conditions of modern slavery on any given day, according to 2021’s Global Estimates developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO), Walk Free and the International Organization for Migration (IOM, UN Migration).

In the wake of the compounding crises resulting from COVID-19, armed conflicts and climate-related events, the threat of modern slavery looms even larger for the most vulnerable workers in our global community.

“Modern slavery refers to situations of exploitation in which a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, deception or abuse of power.”

-Walk Free

EnPerSo‘s initial efforts and focus have been on evaluating the risks of forced labour, child labour, debt bondage and deceptive recruiting in their key providers’ supply chains and empowering their clients’ choices.

This initiative is their first step in taking proactive action and becoming a leading voice on modern slavery within the travel industry, starting to collaborate with like-minded individuals/businesses to create a positive impact.

Take action and start the conversation; be a force for good and reduce your risk and impact on the topic of modern slavery within your business and/(or) supply chain.

Don’t hesitate to connect with Eric Boone and the team directly.
