Staff Spotlight: Theresa Armstrong

Every now and then, we like to celebrate some of the amazing people that make up the Madison Marcus team. Today, we want to shine the spotlight on the extraordinary Theresa Armstrong. If we were to simply list Theresa’s career achievements, that would be more than impressive enough, but when combined with her life story, you can see what a truly remarkable woman she is.

Theresa tragically lost her mother to cancer while completing her final year of the HSC. This devastating event meant that she was forced to work two jobs during uni to help support her father financially while also assuming the role of caregiver to her three younger siblings. Despite these added pressures, she completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Majoring in Accounting) and Bachelor of Laws, and was admitted as a legal practitioner in NSW in 2004.

Theresa’s career path has seen her climb the ranks from working as a receptionist at Madison Marcus in 2002 all the way up to being appointed as a Director at the firm. Along the way, she has been certified as an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law as well as being named a finalist in the Woman Lawyer of the Year Award (Women Lawyers Association, 2014) and Executive Lawyer of the Year Award (Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards, 2019).

Today, Theresa is the proud mother of two children and leads a practice group specialising in the areas of insurance litigation, family law, estates and probate, wills, will disputes and employment law. With a proven track record of exceeding clients’ expectations, she has delivered ground-breaking legal representation to individuals affected by separation, divorce, domestic violence, insurance litigation, will disputes and more. Theresa prides herself on listening to her clients’ needs and providing the most cost-effective and commercial outcomes whilst offering a personal, friendly service.

Along with her work for clients, Theresa is always looking to contribute to the community and is a big civil rights advocate. She is involved with various associations and charities as well as dedicating countless hours to providing pro bono legal advice and mentoring. In 2018, she was instrumental in founding “The Women of MM” – an initiative designed to celebrate and support female staff and all the women in our network. The initiative helps women thrive in both their personal and professional lives through policy development and implementation, mentoring and coaching, access to personal development tools, networking events and more.

We’re honoured to have Theresa as part of our team.
