Michael Mournehis is an Associate in our Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Division team at Madison Marcus and specialises in Commercial Litigation and Insolvency.
Since admission in 2017, Michael has practiced in a number of areas of commercial litigation and dispute resolution including complex commercial disputes, corporate and personal insolvency, commercial law and employment law.
Michael also has a growing interest in the niche area of sport law, where he has leveraged his commercial law experience to assist clients in litigated and non-litigated matters.
Michael has extensive experience acting for clients in all jurisdictions of the Australian Courts and frequents the Federal Court of Australia and Supreme Court of NSW, together with other jurisdictions such as the District Court, Local Court and the NCAT.
Michael has acted in a wide range of litigated and mediated disputes acting for a variety of private and public clients both in general commercial litigation and insolvency. Matter highlights include –
- Successful application in the Federal Court of Australia to set aside a statutory demand issued against our client, on the basis of a real genuine dispute regarding the debt
- Acting for a private client in highly contentious litigation regarding a shareholder dispute. The matter was one of significant public attention
- Acting against Rugby Australia in highly contentious employment law dispute
